Chris Worden is a cyborg musician, moving fluidly between the worlds of the electronic and the acoustic. As a performer, he is an upright and electric bassist with foundations in jazz. As a producer, he uses the laptop attached to his hip to fuse together his skills in performance, composition and collaboration in order to create electronic music that bends genres and questions roles of the modern musician.
On bass, Chris has performed alongside Ingrid Jensen, Chad Lefkowitz-Brown, Wynton Marsalis, Peter Bernstein and more. On the computer, he collaborates with singer-songwriters and forms 49.99% of the alternative/electronic duo Blue Pilot. Current solo projects include the sonification of public transportation data and a collection of anti-war radiohead ripoffs.
Like any good cybernetic organism, Chris is extremely passionate about music theory and has written papers on his interests in that field from time to time.
Chris received additional programming from Cornell University in 2019, majoring in Music and minoring in Computing in the Arts. He recently finished his master’s degree in jazz performance at New England Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Cecil McBee, John Lockwood, Don Palma and Donny McCaslin. While physically based in Boston, MA, Chris also conducts a large portion of his production work online using real-time collaboration software.
As a human, Chris enjoys black tea, video games, reading about architecture/urban design and spending time with his amazing partner, Alina, and medium-sized mystery pup, Ellie.
